Following the political path of his uncle, Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, famous Nigerian Afrobeats sensation,  David Adeleke, popularly addressed as Davido,  on Tuesday, 23 December, 2025, announced that he is joining the Accord Party(AP).

Davido, who confirmed the development through his verified X account on Tuesday, 23 December, 2025, said he would be in Osogbo, the Osun State capital, on Wednesday, 24 December, 2025  to collect his Accord Party membership card.

“I will be live in Osun to pick up my Accord Party membership card at Imole House, Osogbo,” the singer wrote.

This move comes about two weeks after Governor Adeleke adopted the Accord Party as his new political platform ahead of the 2026 Osun governorship election.

The Governor officially announced his defection on December 9, 2025, at the Government House in Osogbo, in the presence of Accord Party leaders at both national and state levels.

Adeleke explained that he left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) due to leadership problems at the national level. He said he joined the Accord Party on November 6, 2025, after consultations with political stakeholders.

According to him, the party’s focus on welfare and social support matches his administration’s policies.

Governor Adeleke had earlier confirmed his resignation from the PDP on December 1, noting that he submitted his resignation letter on November 4 in his ward in Ede North Local Government Area.

Davido had earlier reacted to his uncle’s exit from the PDP by sharing the news online with the caption, “Jeje…”.
