The Lagos Lagoon Water Carnival; an initiative of Mic-Idols Concert, is scheduled to hold in December 2024 in Lagos and it will cost at least N2 billion, reports thegazellenews.com.
CEO of Mic-Idols Concert, Mr Olumuyiwa Adesanya, who is the Initiator of the project, made this disclosure during the unveiling on Friday, 27 September, 2024 at the prestigious Watercress Hotel, Ikeja Lagos State.
Speaking at the well attended media parley, Adesanya said the various activities will be put in place to make the event second to none, to enhance the socio-economic trade activities of Lagos State and showcase the beauty of the state waterways to the whole world.
According to Adesanya, series of events have been lined -up to make the carnival attractive, talk of the town for people within Lagos State, Nigeria as a whole and the outside world.
“To make the carnival a huge success, we have put in place assemblage of experience people, competent people, who are working round the clock to make it a huge success with the support of Lagos State government and our partners,” Adesanya said.
He disclosed that the event has received a boost from corporate bodies and other organizations, and it is aimed at accelerating the trade and commerce within the water transport industry and beyond while it promises to be a turning point with lots of fun and value for money.
The CEO Mic-Idols Concert, added that, “the Lagos Lagoon Water Carnival is an extraordinary event that celebrates love, creativity, and community spirit, featuring elemental displays of the Lagos water divisions with content performances that seek to bring unity that Lagos represents to life through the confluence of these great water bodies”.
He said that the fun-filled party would be held on water using barges and boats, as well as on land with water transport available at different locations, just as he also added that carnival is expected to feature music performances and interactive activities designed to engage attendees of all ages.
Adesanya said aims of the carnival is not only meant to entertain but also to foster connections among participants, evoking the African spirit and avail a peep at the world through the lenses of Lagos.
Adesanya disclosed further that water-tight security will be put in place as maritime and naval police will be there both on water and on the land throughout the duration of the carnival to ensure safety of lives and property.
Also speaking at the event, CEO of Media Perspective, Mr Olusola Obasa, the event organizer, listed two main highlights of the grand event targeted to fully harness and celebrate the richness and diversity that Lagos offers. They include Queen Lagos, a pageantry that parades feminine qualities and attributes that embody the uniqueness of Lagos.
“The Queen Lagos beauty pageant will be distinct,’ Obasa noted, adding that, “it is a paradigm shift to express the beauty of Lagos from core Lagos’ qualities, beyond facial beautyThe pageant winner will be the face of ‘Save Our Waters Campaign’.
Obasa, who disclosed that popular musicians will be on stage to render sonorous songs to people who will be present at the carnival, the beauty of the event is aimed at taken away the joblessness of thousands of youths in state and make Lagos State investment destination.
Also, companies and industry giants who have for years been playing a role in Lagos’ development, will be rewarded, Obasa said.
The other highpoint event at the carnival is the Best Of All Time (BOAT) awards ceremony.
BOAT awards, according to the organizers, are for personalities from various fields of endeavors who have made impacts in the Blue Economy and the development of Lagos State.
Notable Lagos achievers from both public and private sectors will be honoured with different BOAT award categories.
Mr Wale Adebayo from Events Perspective, while speaking at the event, said Red Cross officials with fully equipped first aid and other medical personnel will be on standby, just as life jackets will be made available to people who will grace the august event.
Adebayo, who also disclosed that life guards will be available throughout the duration of the event, said the carnival aimed at selling the cultural heritage and hospitality of the people of Lagos State to the international communities.
