Niger State Governor, Abubakar Sani Bello has reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing efficient and adequate healthcare facilities for the people of the state.
Governor Sani Bello stated this when he inspected the ongoing construction and rehabilitation work at the General Hospital and the School of Nursing in Kontagora.
While inspecting the project sites in company of the Secretary to the State Government, Ahmed Ibrahim Matane; the Chairman of Niger State Council for Nursing and Midwifery, Professor Sale N Garba; the state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mohammed Makusidi; and the Director, School of Nursing Kontagora, Hajiya Binta Jibrin, the Governor expressed satisfaction with the level and quality of work done so far.
He noted that the general hospital which has been in existence for over four decades, has hitherto not been given the needed facelift and enabling environment for medical professionals despite the astronomic growth in population.
He called on the engineer in charge of the project to ensure the projects are completed timely and according to the agreed specifications so as to create a conducive environment for staff, patients and students respectively.
The state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Mohammed Makusidi who also aligned himself with the position of the Governor on the level of work done, stressed the need for proper monitoring of the projects to avoid compromise in the standard of work.
He said the School of Nursing Kontagora when completed, will also be used as a training institution in addition to the clinical services it will provide
“Workers resumed few months ago for the remodelling of the facility also bearing in mind that we have the college of nursing sciences and aside the clinical services will also be used as training institution”, he said.
Governor Abubakar Sani Bello also visited the VVF centre in Kontagora
The Governor thereafter inspected the suggested site for trailer park and directed the Chairman, Kontagora Local Government Council to acquire a suitable trailer park aside the Vehicle Inspection Office earlier suggested, in order to avoid indiscriminate parking of trailers in the town.
