The leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, through his lawyer Nnemeka Ejiofor, has warned people who visit him in prison not to make public statements about their discussions, reports thegazellenews.com.
Kanu also said he does not collect money from anyone before allowing visits.
IPOB leader Kanu is currently serving a life sentence at the Sokoto Correctional Centre.
Ejiofor, who made this known in a video message, said that from now on, anyone who visits Kanu must not speak publicly about what was discussed during the visit.
If Kanu has any message for the public, it will only be shared through his lawyers or IPOB’s spokesperson, Emma Powerful, Ejiofor said just as he also explained that Kanu has never taken money from anyone for prison visits and that visiting him is not a business.
He added that anyone who wants to visit Kanu must follow the official procedures of the Sokoto Correctional Centre.
“Visitors are required to bring a valid means of identification and a passport photograph.They will be given a form to fill, which prison officials will screen before it is sent to Kanu for final approval, “ Ejiofor said.
