A 34-year-old man, identified as Segun Adegbite, was found macheted to death at a construction site near WitchTech Factory on the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.
The Ogun State Police Command Public Relation Officer, state police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the sad development through a statement issued on Tuesday, 29 October, 2024.
According to Odutola, the incident was reported to the Sagamu division of the command by one Adedeji Adegbola.
The state police image-maker said Adegbola reported that the local security guard attached to the construction site, identified as Hassan, informed him at about 10:00 a.m. on Monday that a violent altercation was taking place between the deceased and some unidentified persons.
“The incident was reported to the Sagamu Police Division by one Adedeji Adegbola of Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway, Iyana-Ipaja, Lagos, on Monday, October 28, 2024.
“Adegbola said the local security guard attached to the construction site, identified simply as Hassan, informed him at about 10:00 a.m. on the same day that a violent altercation was taking place between the deceased and some unidentified persons,” Odutola said.
Following this report, detectives quickly arrived at the location, where they found Segun’s body lying in a pool of blood, with multiple machete wounds on his body.
The command spokesperson noted that a blood-stained machete was recovered at the scene, and the corpse was evacuated and deposited at Live-well Morgue for autopsy.
She added that the security guard had fled the scene, likely for his safety, and that an inquiry into the murder had begun.
