17 Years After Demise Of Monarch, Aregbesola Appoints New Akinla Of Erin-Ijesha

Osun State Governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola has approved the appointment of Prince Isaac Adeyeba Ayeni as the new Akinla of Erin-Ijesa in Oriade local government area of the state.

The appointment came 17 years after the town lost its king.

There had been tussle among princes of the town on who would mount the vacant stool.

The appointment was contained in a letter signed by the Director of Chieftaincy Matters in the state Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Matters, Rural and Community Affairs, Mr Femi Ogundun on behalf of the Permanent Secretary.

According to the letter, a copy of which was made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Saturday, March 5, 2016, the appointment was in accordance with Section 20,Subsection (1) of Chief’s Law (Cap 25) Laws of the State of Osun,2002.

The 52-year-old Ayeni is an Engineer who hails from Ayeni Royal Family of Osefiri Ruling House in the town where the popular tourist site, Erinjesha Water Fall is situated.

The appointment letter state that arrangement was being made to publish the appointment in the Government Official Gazette.

The media aide to the new monarch, Mr Kayode Ekundayo while reacting to the appointment commended Governor Aregbesola for ensuring that Erin-Ijesha got a traditional ruler after 17 years.

Meanwhile, the entire people of Erin-Ijesha have been thrown into wild jubilation following the appointment of the new Oba.

The jubilants hailed the governor for the appointment.
