Two brothers, Umaru Muhammed and Ali Muhammed, both aged 18, were on Tuesday arraigned in a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly stealing items valued at N95,000.
Also arraigned alongside the accused was their alleged accomplice, Bitrus Yuhanna, 22.
The Prosecutor, Insp Richard Odigie, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Dec. 17, 2015 at about 3:00p.m.
Odigie said that the two brothers allegedly broke the driver’s side glass of a Toyota Camry marked AKD-180 AH and belonging to one Christian Immoye at 21 Utomi Aire St., Lekki Phase 1, Eti-Osa Local Government Area, Lagos.
He said the two brothers stole from the car items such as phone, two wrist watches, perfume, a sun glass, a jacket and the car’s battery, all valued at N95,000.
Odigie said that the third accused, Yuhanna, received some of the stolen items, knowing that they were stolen.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 285, 326, 348, 385 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, stealing, unlawful damage and receipt of stolen goods.
The Magistrate, Mr L.A. Owolabi, granted each of the accused bail in the sum of N35,000, with two sureties each in like sum.
