Ahead of the 2015 general elections, the Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government, Comrade Ayodele Adewale, has urged electorate to be vigilant and protect their votes jealously.
Comrade Adewale made this call at a one day dialogue on participatory budgeting for local government organized by partnership for good governance with support from State accountability and voice initiative.
The event which was held at the council secretariat, had in attendance youth groups, religious bodies, artisans and other stakeholders.
The local government boss noted that electorate should cast their votes for individual who have track records and have proven their integrity.
In his words, “you should not cast your votes for a complete stranger, when you do this be assured that development would come to your locality”.
Speaking further, he stated that through participatory budgeting, citizens have the opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge of the operations of the government, influence government policies, and hold the government accountable.
Comrade Adewale also advised residents to guard against destroying public infrastructures, and advised them to always pay their rates and levies promptly.
