Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo and the members of the senate Committee on Labour and employment and Productivity and their colleagues in the House of Representatives engaged in a shouting match on Tuesday over the job creation prograame that is supposed to generate 774,000 new jobs.
It all started when Keyamo was fingered for been biased in the recruitment process and the minister was also accused of carrying the lawmakers along.
The lawmakers also called for a closed-door session but the minister insisted on the presence of the media stressing that he won’t say anything unless the media is there.
The minister, briefing the media after he got out, accused the lawmakers for trying to hijack the process.
He said: “They started mounting pressure to me to bring those that will be recruited from state to state.
“They want to me tell them how the programme will be done from state to state.
“I said you can’t direct me how to do that because that is taking over the power of the President (Muhammadu Buhari).
“You can’t accuse me of lopsidedness issue publicly and close the door.
“I did not insult them.
“I only insisted that we should do it publicly.
“They want to direct me on how to do it.
“They can’t direct me.”
