A socio-political group, the Solid Political Group of Nigeria (SPGN), Adamawa State chapter, has thrown its weight behind the ambition of Nuhu Ribadu, former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in Adamawa State.
In a press statement signed by Chief Medan Teneke (Sardauna Batta), leader of the group and former Commissioner for Special Duties under former governor Murtala Nyako, the group described Ribadu’s entry in the race as divine and in the interest of Adamawa people.
“Ribadu will provide the much needed sense of direction and progress lacking in the state. He’s brilliant, passionate, humble, accommodating and his career records towers over everyone eyeing the seat,” the statement said.
It also emphasized that Ribadu’s interest in serving the state was divine, particularly as Adamawa State needed someone capable of making it great again by bringing back smiles on the faces of the people. Teneke, who currently doubles as the Zonal chairman of PDP, (Southern Adamawa), the largest Christain minority group in the state, and former North East Co-ordinator of Dr Peter Odili Presidential Campaign Organisation, stressed that his group was backing Ribadu following conviction that the former EFCC boss clearly understands the mood on ground, challenges and expectations, and will hit the ground running by providing the people efficient leadership and direction needed to re-position the state on the path of regaining its lost glory.
The former commissioner, who was Chief Campaign Officer for Murtala Nyako, assured that his group will deliver the southern zone for PDP, so the people of the state can have a breath of fresh air.
“The state is in dire need of a stabilizing agent and having followed Ribadu’s career trajectory, we have no doubt whatsoever, that he will play that role in the state,” he said, adding that as a grassroots organisation, members of the group know when an ambition is driven by self or desire for selfless service as, according to him, Ribadu’s is driven by the passion for selfless service .
It would be recalled that Teneke, a pioneer chairman of the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP) and Labour Party (LP) in Adamawa, was the leader of the factional PDP that pushed for the probe of former governor Nyako’s administration leading to his impeachment.
He, it was, who also convinced former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, to return to the PDP.
