Adeleke: Suspended By PDP, Received By APC

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State Friday announced the suspension of former Governor, Senator Adetunji  Adeleke.
This is as the All Progressives Congress (APC) has concluded plans for a grand reception for him today at the Nelson Mandela Park, Oshogbo where he will formally join the party.

Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa, Chairman of the Party in the State announced the suspension in a press statement made available to Thisday in Osogbo.

According to OlaOluwa, ”the decision was taken after the extended executive committee meeting of the party where the activities of Senator Adeleke were x-rayed”.
Olaoluwa said it was embarrassing and ”shameful that Adeleke could engage in anti party activities when all hands should be on deck in ensuring that the PDP reclaims”.

It would be recalled that Adeleke had on Thursday confirmed to newsmen in Osogbo that he was set to defect from the PDP to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The former Osun governor disclosed that he would formally declare for the APC today at a political rally in Osogbo.
Adeleke who had been with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) decided to call it quits with his former party that has been hijacked by people whose disposition is reportedly inconsistent with civilised conduct and democratic norms.

The Senator who is respected as a gentleman politician was publicly assaulted and humiliated by suspected PDP thugs who violently prevented him from participating in their party’s primary, from which Iyiola Omisore emerged as candidate for the August 9th governorship election.

Adeleke’s departure from the PDP is adjudged a significant blow to that party’s electoral fortunes, and a big boost to APC’s prospects for electoral victory.

“The APC therefore calls on its supporters, party leaders, Senators, House representatives, State legislators and members of the State Executives Council to be present at the Nelson Mandela Park to welcome the gentleman politician to the Party in style and with fanfare”, they said.
