The Governor of the State of Osun, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Monday, 31 May, 2021 attributed the successes recorded by his administration so far to adequate policy implementation.
He said his Administration has taken full cognisance of the importance of policy implementation, hence the institutionalisation of Osun Development Plan 2019-2028.
This is even as the participants of Senior Executive Course (SEC) 43 of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, applauded the Administration for being committed to full implementation of its people-oriented policies and programmes.
The NIPSS Senior Executive Course (SEC) 43 participants have come to Osun after their visit to Adamawa as part of the local study and course requirements to understudy the impact of the policies and programmes of the State on the citizens.
Receiving the NIPSS delegation in his Office, Governor Oyetola said the State under his watch witnessed tremendous achievements due to the priority given to policy implementation.
According to him, there is no need to formulate a policy if it will not be implemented. According to him, adequate implementation of policy is paramount to advance good governance.
Governor Oyetola who reeled out some of the achievements of the Administration across sectors noted that the State under his watch had prioritised the welfare and general well-being of the people as reflected in the positive implementation of its masses-focused policies and programmes.
” I have carefully listened to the theme of this Course which is challenges of policy Formulation and Implementation.
“For me, there is no need to formulate a policy if one is not ready to implement it. Unfortunately, this is part of the problems confronting our nation.
“As a government, we think through our policies and ensure their full implementation. For instance, the implementation of our policy on health sector that has given birth to massive construction, rehabilitation and revitalisation of our Primary Healthcare Centres is aimed at ensuring that our people have access to quality healthcare delivery.
“We engage relevant stakeholders before we prepare our budget to ensure that our budget is realistic and implementable,” he added.
Earlier in his remarks, the leader of the delegation, Dr. Nasirdeen Usman, applauded the Administration’s commitment to policy implementation.
Usman who disclosed that the delegation was in Osun to understudy the challenges in implementing government policies, said it was good to know and be exposed to the adequate implementation of the State’s polices and programmes.
Those in attendance were: the state Deputy Governor, Mr Benedict Alabi; the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji; the Deputy Chief of Staff, Prince Abdulah Binuyo; the state Head of Service, Dr. Olowogboyega Oyebade; members of the State Executive Council, among other senior officials of government.
