Again, Osun Offers Eid-el-Kabir Free Train Service For State Indigenes Coming Home For Ileya 

Few days to the 2014 Eid il Kabir festival, the government of the State of Osun has once again concluded arrangements to provide free train services for its citizens, according to the state Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Industry and Empowerment, Mr. Ismail Alagbada.

He said in a statement on Monday, 29th September, 2014 in Osogbo that the free train service would be offered between Thurdsay, 2nd and Friday, 3rd October, 2014.

Alagbada said the train would by 11a.m convey people from Lagos to Osogbo onThursday and Friday.

The return journey to Lagos would start by 11a.m on 6th October and 7th October, 2014, the commissioner added.

According to him, the gesture is aimed at facilitating stress-free homecoming for the people during the Muslim festival.

The state government had since 2011 been making such similar arrangements for people of the state to travel home during festive seasons as part of efforts to promote tourism, boost economy by encouraging.more people to visit the state.

The free train service has been noted to have enhanced Nigerians belief in the use train as an effective means of transportation.

The state government had earlier signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Nigerian Railway Corporation on the use of train to enhance transportation of farm products to Lagos.
