Ahmed Musa, captain of the Nigeria’s Super Eagles has reacted to his emergence as the Nigerian Muslim Celebrity of the Year 2020, tagged #MNAwards2020.
Musa, a devout Muslim, was announced the winner of the award category on Tuesday by the Publisher of Muslim News, Nigeria’s most authoritative Islamic newspaper, Mr Rasheed Abubakar.
Musa while speaking, expressed his excitement over the award.
He said, “I feel very happy and first of all grateful to Almighty Allah for the strength and blessings over me and my family.”
Musa revealed that performing sujood shukr (the prostration of gratitude), after scoring goals, is a mark of reverence to Allah for the opportunity of life to achieve his goals.
Speaking on the motivation behind his philanthropic gestures to the poor, the 28-year old forward said, “We need to give back to the society, the poor and our fans that are always praying and supporting us.
“Success in my profession is the fact that I believe in Almighty Allah. That’s why I always perform the sujood shukr as a mark of respect to Allah for the opportunity of life to achieve my goals. My message to my Muslim fans is for them to respect and believe in the holy Quran.”
