Akeredolu ‘ll Be Defeated Again At The Polls, Says Oke As He Dumps APC For AD

One of the leading aspirants in the September 3 primary election of the All Progressive Congress (APC), in Ondo State , Chief Olusola Oke has decamped from the party to the Alliance for Democracy (AD) ahead of the November 26  Governorship election in the state.

Oke who was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2012 Governorship election, led several leaders and members of APC to AD in a move that marked the climax of the crisis rocking the APC over the governorship primary of the party that produced Chief Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN) as the winner of the exercise.

Addressing  his supporters drawn from the 18 Local Government Areas of the State,  in Akure, the State capital, Oke said he decided to ‘step aside’ from APC because of injustice that characterized the September 3 primary election.

While expressing regret over  the candidate picked by the APC for the November 26 Governorship, the former National Legal Adviser of the PDP described Akeredolu  as  well known to the leadership of the People’s Democratic Party(PDP) as he has been defeated in previous elections and would not be difficult to be defeated in the incoming election.

According to him, the primary that produced Akeredolu was characterized by malpractices as confirmed by the Appeal Committee that looked into the dispute over the election and confirmed by majority members of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC.

Oke who came third in the primaries of the party further described  the National Chairman of APC, Chief John Oyegun as a  clog in the wheel of progress in APC because of his decision to manipulated  the decision of majority of the NWC in order to favour his preferred candidate.

He, however, commended the National Leader of APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubarkar for standing by the truth and condemning the decision of Oyegun to override the resolution of the majority of the NWC members.
