SENATE Minority leader, Dr George Akume, on Monday, emerged the sole candidate of Benue North-West Senatorial District of the All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries.
The primaries, which took place at Eunice Resort, along Ankpa Road, in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, on Monday witnessed affirmation of Akume as the senatorial candidate of the party in Zone B.
In the same vein, former national chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Board of Trustee member, Chief Barnabas Gemade, also on Monday, participated in the party’s primaries of Benue North-East senatorial district.
Gemade had withdrawn from the PDP’s senatorial primaries held last Sunday, in Katsina-Ala, in which Governor Gabriel Suswam emerged the consensus candidate.
The former national chairman had alleged irregularities in the build-up to the PDP primaries by the state governor, which resulted in his withdrawal a few days to the primaries.
Against all odds, Gemade, on Monday, joined two others in the primaries held in Katsina-Ala, headquarters of the senatorial district.
