The Chairman of Alimoso Local Government Area of Lagos State, Hon Jelili Suleiman has called for concerted efforts between school owners and government to ensure adequate security at public and private schools in the state.
The Alimoso LG Chairman disclosed this at a recent meeting private school owners in the local government.
Addressing the school owners, Hon Sulaiman who was represented at the meeting by his Vice, Prince Francis Adebisi, expressed concern on the increased in cases of ritual killings and kidnapping in Lagos schools despite government huge investment on security.
He urged the school owners to always sought clarifications on revenue payment and other issues with government functionaries as the present government runs an open door policy.
In her remarks, the Head of Administration of the local government, Mrs Ogabi Adetokunbo explained that misconception about governance at the local government level arose from lack of adequate knowledge about functions and obligations of the local government to members of the public including private and public schools.
Mrs Ogabi Adetokunbo assured that with constant interaction, the wrong impression about local government system would be a thing of the past adding that the stakeholders’ forum would form the base for a solid and synergies partnership that is expected to be mutually beneficial to both parties.
The Head of Administration further commended the Chairman, his Vice and management staff of the local government for their efforts towards moving Alimosho forward.
The school owners described the forum as unique, timely and rewarding.
They appealed to the local government to looked into the high revenue bill since they also pay revenue to the state government.
They wanted a platform created to interact, seek clarifications and offer advice.
