By Mobolaji Odunuga

The Chairman of the Ogun State chapter of the Labour Party, Comrade Niyi Osoba, has described the incumbent government of the state as visionless and clueless.

Speaking at the Ijebu Central Federal Constituency meeting held at Odogbolu, Ogun state on Sunday, 29th June, 2014, he said presently in Ogun state, “people are suffering, they don’t know how the government is being run.

“It is not what the incumbent Governor promised that he is doing, our people have been bastardized and enslaved. They are worried about the level of indebtedness the present government has put the state.

“There is no employment, our educational sector is suffering, salaries of workers are not promptly paid, no development in the agricultural sector, the market people and our youths are not empowered”.

According to him, “Labour Party is on a rescue mission and by May, 2015 we shall take over the state”.

The state leader of the party, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, while addressing party members, said it is the work of Labour Party to create employment for the people and as such the party will do more in terms of employment if voted into power.

He criticized the present administration in the state who after the Ekiti state governorship election defeat of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is planning to re absorb the 2,000 civil servants who were employed by his administration but sacked immediately Senator Ibikunle Amosun came into power.

“When we came into power in 2003, all political office holders who served under Chief Segun Osoba were paid their severance benefits within six months but the present administration in Ogun state didn’t do that. “Immediately after Ekiti state governorship election which their party lost, they decided to pay severance benefits. Out of over 300 people, only 103 people were paid and they are now waiting for the remaining to come and prostrate for them before they collect what rightfully belong to them.

“By the grace of God if this government refuse to pay you, during the first week of this administration all the money will be paid” he said.

Daniel noted that during his administration, the government built stadia and they decided to name the one built at Ijebu Ode after Otunba Micheal Adenuga so that he will be maintaining the stadium and sponsoring Gateway Football Club of Ogun state  but it was a surprise that when the present government came on board the governor changed the name of the stadium to Otunba Dipo Dina stadium.

“Why are we in a hurry to destroy sports development which the youths of this state want? He queried.

The ex-Governor said before he left office, those who killed Dipo Dina have been arrested wondering why the the present government stop their prosecution.

Members of All Progressive Congress (APC) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took turn to decamp to Labour Party at the meeting.

Some of those that decamped are Princess Toyin Alawiye, who decamped with her followers from APC; Mrs. Dele Ogunnaike of PDP with her followers; and Mr. Mufutau Odusi of APC with his followers.
