The Senior Special Assistant to the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Kunle Odufuwa has scored the Comrade Ayodele Adewale administration in Amuwo Odofin Local Government high on infrastructure development put in place in the local government.
He made this statement while inaugurating the Chieftaincy Committee in the local government at the Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu Legislative Building (Freedom House) hall, at the Council Secretariat, Festac Town, Lagos.
Odufunwa who represented the state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Barrister Ademorin Kuye, noted that he was one of the first residents in Festac Town during the 70s and he is happy at what the local government has turned to.
“We have to give credit to the Chairman for transforming this local government into a gold mine. I can confidently tell you that this local government is the best and neatest that I have ever seen”.
He also stated that the Lagos State Government is committed to improving the welfare of traditional rulers in the state.
The local government boss in his welcome address, expressed delight at the inauguration of the committee. He admonished the committee members to work closely with the government, for improved performance.
He also urged the chiefs to remove the notion that politics should be left solely in the hands of politicians, rather the traditional rulers should play vital and bigger roles to move the nation’s democracy forward.
The Chairman of the newly inaugurated Committee, the Onilado of Ilado & Inogbe kingdom, HRM, Oba Mobadenle Oyekan, thanked the Commissioner for the opportunity promising that the committee members would work hand in hand with the local government to ensure the smooth running of governance at the grassroots.
