The Chairman of Amuwo Odofin Local Government Area of Lagos State, southwest Nigeria, Comrade Ayodele Adewale and executive members of the local government chapter of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), held a meeting to discuss grey areas in the transportation business in the council area.
The NURTW members expressed appreciation to the council Chairman for bringing sanity to the local government appealing to him to look into the shuttle bus issues, with a view of resolving the grey areas between NURTW members and the shuttle bus operators.
Responding, Comrade Adewale noted that the shuttle buses were created to empower the people, and to give the local government a brand. He allayed the fears of the NURTW members on the operation of the buses noting that “the shuttle bus has not created a gap in your income; rather it has helped to empower the people and create more jobs.”
The local government boss advised the union to organize programmes and educate their members on how to empower themselves. He further stated that they must be visionary and more focused.
Comrade Adewale also implored them to be more security conscious and compliment government’s efforts on environmental sustainability.
