The Ekiti State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has described as “lie from the pit of hell” the claim that only one ambulance is functioning at the Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital.
A statement by the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Taiwo Olatunbosun stated that the claim was another attempt by the current administration to discredit the achievements of the Kayode Fayemi administration.
“There are three functional ambulances at the teaching hospital which include a Toyota, a Peugeot and a Big Ford ambulances all purchased by the Fayemi administration.
“Another lie by Governor Fayose is that the X-ray machine has broken down. There are two functional X-ray machines presently at the teaching hospital. One is a mobile one while the other one is very big. We urge anyone in doubt to conduct an independent verification at the teaching hospital and the lie of this administration will be exposed.
“The statement that Governor Fayose started the College of Medicine during his first tenure when he was impeached is not only laughable but a deliberate distortion of fact. The truth of the matter is that, Governor Fayose actually frustrated the take off of the College of Medicine during his first term. It was Fayose as governor in 2004 who after pocketing N100 million released by Governor Adebayo for the take off of the College of medicine abolished the College and instead wasted a colossal N1.3 billion on a non- existent poultry project and another N115 million on a non- existent international school in his home town, Afao Ekiti.
“We also wish to remind Governor Fayose that it was under Dr. Fayemi that the College of Medicine which is now awaiting accreditation was given approval to operate by the Medical Registration Council of Nigeria. As part of the accreditation requirements, the Fayemi administration constructed the General- Out patient Department extension as well as renovated the old accident and emergency ward and the female surgical ward. The Funmi Adunni Olayinka Diagnostic and Wellness centre was constructed in the premises of the teaching hospital by the Fayemi administration. In the College of Medicine, Dr. Fayemi completed structures in the Medical Library, the Anatomy Department, the physiology department, pharmacology and Bio Chemistry department and the Medical Student Hostel.
“The more Governor Fayose lies against the verifiable achievements of Dr. Fayemi, the more he exposes his inadequacies and reminds Ekiti people of his sordid past. We, as a party, will always debunk Fayose’s lies with unassailable facts and figures. It is getting clearer by the day that Governor Fayose has no concrete agenda to improve the lives of Ekiti people, hence the resort to running Fayemi’ administration down at all cost.
“It is doubtful if Ekiti people actually voted for this pathological lier, whose past will soon catch up with,” the statement concluded.
