Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola on Tuesday, 27th May, 2014 flagged off his re-election campaign in Ile-Ife, southwest Nigeria promising to continue with various developmental projects his administration has embarked on in the state should he be allowed to govern the state for another four years.
Aregbesola while speaking at the rally held at Ife Technical College, Ile-Ife and attended by chieftains and supporters of the party from Lagos and Osun states revealed that he embarked on series of developmental projects to satisfy yearnings of Osun people for a better society.
According to the Governor, while addressing the mammoth crowd: “Today, Tuesday, 27th May, 2014, makes it seven years that I was chased out of Ile-Ife. The mandate was stolen from us but it was retrieved for us by the court. That day was significant for us in APC because it was a day of victory.
“We beat them in 2011 election, this we shall do in August by beating PDP to submission. PDP has been a conservative party and has no interest of the country at heart. Those in PDP are thieves, brigands and killers.
“We have tarred 50.7 kilometres road network in Ile-Ife and we intend to do more for the people of the state. What we have done will be a small project to what we will do in the second term. We have distributed 1,400 computer tablets popularly known as Opon Imo to students in Ife Federal Constituency.
Governor Aregbesola, who noted that his administration has also initiated and completed several projects in health sector all designed to benefit the masses, maintained that he would further raise ante of development in the state if given another term.
He declared that Yoruba people have never been part of reactionary forces since independence and urged people of the state to vote for the APC to allow the party execute its other life changing programmes for the benefit of the people.
Speaking earlier, leaders and chieftains of the party had urged people of the state to keep supporting Governor Aregbesola assuring them of better performance if he is reelected for another term.
In his speech, the state chairman of the party, Elder Lowo Adebiyi said achievements of Governor Aregbesola would facilitate his victory in the August 9 poll urging party members to collectively work and convince members of opposition parties to support Aregbesola’s reelection bid in the interest of the state.
