The Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has urged Canada to assist Nigeria and the African continent to achieve development and growth by helping them fight poverty.
The Minister made this plea in his office in Abuja on Thursday, 14 November, 2019, when a delegation of the Canadian High Commission In Nigeria led by the acting High Commissioner, Ms Amy Galigan paid a courtesy visit to him.
According to a tweet on the Minister’s Twitter page, @raufaregbesola, the Minister stated that the meeting discussed areas of mutual interest between Nigeria and Canada.
According to the Minister, the Canadian High Commission complained about the issue of irregular migration.
Aregbesola told the delegation that the issue of irregular migration can be curtailed if Canada and other developed help in managing or totally eradicating the cause of this problem which is poverty.
