Over 50 armed men have invaded Taaba community in Khana Local Government Area of Rivers State, beheading a youth, destroying the palace of the Mene-Bua-Ba, Kabari Nu-le, paramount ruler of Taaba and sacked members of the community who are now seeking refuge elsewhere.
The Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Honourable Leyii Kwanee, a native of Taaba, while narrating the incident, said the once peaceful Taaba community was thrown into turmoil Thursday, 18th September, 2014 at about 10pm when the gunmen struck leaving one other youth seriously injured, now hospitalized.
Honourable Kwanee condemned the invasion of his community saying it may have been orchestrated by desperate politicians who are seeking power by all means ahead of the 2015 general election.
The Deputy Speaker charged new Commissioner of Police in Rivers State, Dan Bature to fish out the perpetrators of the condemnable act since the matter has been formally reported to the police and called on the people of Taaba to remain calm.
He added that the remains of the youth that was killed has been deposited at a mortuary and promised to ensure that Taaba community returns to the peaceful state it once was, in the shortest possible time
