Some residents of Lagos Island have appealed to the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN; and the new Commissioner of Police in the state, Kayode Aderanti; to wade into the arrest of three of their colleagues by the police in Festac Town.
They also called for thorough investigation to unravel circumstances leading to their arrest on Saturday, 6th September, 2014 in Festac town.
Those arrested are: Tolu Oloyede, Rasaq Olayiwola and Fatai Ganiyu.
The spokesman for the group, Adagun Muritala, said the trio was arrested on the order of the Commander of Area E Police Command, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Dan Okoro for no offence.
He explained that efforts by the family members of those arrested to secure their release on bail have proved abortive.
According to Adagun Muritala, the police should charge them to court if there is any offence they have committed or release them without further delay.
He lamented the unwarranted violation of their rights adding it was sad that they were being detained in prison almost a week now without any charge.
Adagun Muritala on behalf of the protesters appealed to the Governor and the new Commissioner of Police to conduct independent investigation into their unlawful arrest noting for now they are innocent until proven guilty according to the law.
