The Speaker of the Ondo State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Samuel Adesina is dead.
The Speaker, a member of the ruling Labour Party (LP) in the state, died early this morning after a protracted battle with illness which reportedly lasted for six months.
According to reports, the late Speaker spent his last months at the popula St Nicholas Hospital, Lagos Island where he was being treated of the unnamed illness. He was aged 56.
Born at Araromi Obu, the late Speaker was first elelcted into the Assembly in 2003 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to represent the Odigbo State Constituency 2.
The late Samuel Adesina, from Odigbo Loxal Government Area of the state, was reelected in 2007 also as a member of the PDP.
However, when the Appeal Court declared Olusegun Mimiko the winner of the 2007 governorship election in the state in 2009 and Mimiko was subsequently sworn-in as Governor in February 2009, the late Adesina and nine other lawmakers defected to the LP in April 2009 and the re-allingment led to his being elected Speaker of the Assembly in April 2009.
Adesina was re-elected again in 2011 this time on the platform of LP and he subsequently retained his position as the Speaker of the Assembly, a position he held until his death this morning.
