A member of staff of the Yaba College of Technology, M A Omoighe has died of complications from Covid-19 infections reports The Gazelle News.com.
This medium learnt that the deceased was a staff of the Academic Planning Unit (APU) of the institution.
His death has thus precipitated a chain of reactions from the management of the school.
A memo released on Monday, 25 January, 2021 after an emergency meeting of the management of the school in possession of The Gazelle News.com revealed that the school has shut down the APU and the Medical Centre for one week.
The memo signed by S O Momodu, Registrar of the school, also ordered all staff in APU to self isolate for one week and also present themselves for Covid-19 test.
“All offices in the school are expected to operate in 50% capacity while meetings of more than 10 people should be held virtually,” the memo said.
The memo also directed that all staff who have had close contact with the deceased staff and his family should go for Covid-19 test while it has now become compulsory for all staff and student to wash their hands and wear face masks when they are in the premises of the school.
