The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Chief Sunday Dare has reiterated the Buhari led FG’s uncommon commitment through the creation of N75 billion Nigerian Youth Investment Fund (NYIF) and various youth’s empowerment/acquisition and digital skills programmes in the ministry targeted at making youths to be self-reliant, wealth creators and invariably improve their lives .
The Minister said that FG is poised to do everything possible to build the youth and by so doing build the nation, and that the youth are the very core strength of our great nation.
He stated this during an official working visit to the 2021 Batch ‘A’ Stream 1 Corps Members at the NYSC FCT Camp, kubwa in Abuja.
While inspecting the parade of over about 1, 723 corps members registered at the FCT camp, the Minister enjoined them to allow the lessons of the NYSC orientation abide in them and carry such lessons onward as they serve this country in their various capacities as corps members throughout the year.
According to the Minister, ‘’my message this afternoon is a short one and is to let you know that NYSC is the single largest concentration of Nigeria youths numbering about 320, 000 annually being maintained and sustained over time by FG and will collectively serve our aspiration’’.
Dare encouraged the corps members to take advantage of the government low interest loan to invest in SMEs while serving and after their service year, stressing that youths can access between 250, 000 and 3 million under the NYIF scheme to help them become entrepreneurs and employers of labour.
Earlier in his address, the NYSC FCT Coordinator, Suleiman Abdul, welcoming the Minister and his entourage, said his visit will further boost the morale of the NYSC officials and propel them to provide ace-services to corps members and numerous clients.
Alhaji Suleiman informed the Minister that the Batch ‘A’ Stream 1 corps members have exhibited exceptional levels of discipline, resilience, loyalty, dedication and patriotism.
He thanked the Ministry of Youth and Sports Development under the leadership of Chief Sunday Dare in coordinating the affairs of the scheme and for the continued assistance to the NYSC operations.
A total number of registered corps members of 1, 723 comprising of 697 male and 1, 056 female are camped at the FCT NYSC permanent camp.
