It was a postive commencement of government/staff relationship in Alimoso Local Government as the Chairman of the Local Government, Hon. Jelili Suleiman met with the staff of the local government for the first time on Thursday, August 24, 2017.
At the meeting, Hon Sulaiman assured the staff of the commitment of his administration to their welfare and improved standard of living.
He stated that an improved revenue base would facilitate rapid development within the secretariat and the seven wards in Alimosho.
The Alimoso LG boss therefore called on staff to change their attitude to work and ensure better service delivery for the people of Alimosho.
Hon Sulaimon commended the staff for their support at the last local government elections. He prayed for God’s guidance, progress, peace of mind and career success for every member of staff.
Thus the council boss approved requests for: staff welfare allowance, provision of drugs for staff clinic, provision of a sick bay, quarterly staff meeting and monthly meeting with the executive members of the local government chapter of the National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE).
In an earlier address, the NULGE Chairman for the local government, Comrade Lateef Taliat set the meeting agenda that included: State NULGE directive for prayer session on the incessant death and other physical challenge posed to staff in Lagos state and Alimosho; prayer for president Buhari; issues on local government autonomy; balance of 2015 ILEYA bonus; 2017 ILEYA bonus to be on flat rate; financial assistance and motivation for staff; among others.
The highlight of the Staff Forum was the premium placed on staff physical appearance at the meeting as conditions for free lake rice distribution among staff. This was due to staff luke warm attitude to attendance at tje meeting despite being informed on schedule.
The Vice Chairman of the local government, Prince Francis Adebisi took charge of the physical counting exercise as directed by the chairman. While he staff strength of the local government was 560, only 240 staff were physically present at the meeting prompting the Chairman to announce free 10kg Lake rice for each of the staff physically present at the meeting. Each staff will use his/her tally number at the meeting to collect his or her package.
Hon Sulaiman also announced Sallah bonus for the staff in the following order: N2,000 for each non-pensionable staff, N3,000 for each junior staff and N5,000 for each senior staff.
He also announced awards for best staff of the month and best staff of the year domiciled in the office of the council’s Human Resources Officer (HRO).
