The Magistrate, Mrs R.A Olayemi, ordered that Olabamiji, an applicant of no fixed address, be remanded in prison due to the magnitude of the alleged offence.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Olaiwola Rasaki, had told the court that the accused committed the offence on July 10, at about 7:30 p.m., along Osogbo-Oba road, Osun.
Rasaki said the accused stole a block making engine, storex tank and electric wires with other valuables, property of one Oladejo Samson.
“The accused was identified and arrested with the help of a CCTv camera which captured how he carried out the horrific act.
“The total sum of all what the accused stole was about N920,000 when estimated by the complainant,” he claimed.
The Prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 383 and punishable under Section 390(9) of the Criminal Code Cap 34 Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2003.
The accused, who is facing a count charge of theft, had pleaded guilty to the offence, but the Magistrate, however, adjourned till Oct. 24, for sentencing.
The defence counsel, Mr Najite Okobie, had prayed the court to temper justice with mercy in sentencing the accused following his plea. (NAN)
