Twelve people lost their lives to coronavirus infection in Nigeria on Saturday, 30 May, 2020, reports The Gazelle News.com.
This medium also reports that 553 new cases were recorded across the country on the same day pushing the country’s total figure to 9,855.
Both the number of deaths and new cases were the highest for a single day since the pandemic broke out in Nigeria.
Also, Lagos State, epicentre of the pandemic in Nigeria records 378 cases on the same day, record for a single day infection by any state in the country.
The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) gave this update on its official Twitter handle.
On Saturday, 30 May, 2020, three people died each from the virus infection in Lagos and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT); two died in Kano; and one each in Borno, Jigawa, Gombe and Rivers.
The total number of deaths from the virus infection is now 273.
In the figure released on Saturday, Lagos has 378 cases of the new infection which is also the highest for a single day recorded by any state, FCT 52, Delta 23, Edo 22, Rivers 14, Ogun 13, Kaduna 12, Kano 9, Borno 7, Katsina 6, Jigawa and Oyo 5 each, Yobe and Plateau 3 each and Osun 1.
