Organisers of Iconic Fagbohun, a series of events put together to celebrate the outgoing Vice Chancellor of the Lagos State University (LASU) Professor Olanrewaju Fagbohun, are not happy with the Lagos State Government for the leaving them in the lurch, reports The Gazelle News.com.
The series of event which lasted for a week climaxed on Saturday, 5 December, 2020 with the launch of a television documentary and compendium on the VC.
The state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu was expected to be the Special Guest of Honour. The Special Adviser to the Governor of Education, Tokunbo Wahab was one of the invited guests for the event which took place at highbrow Radison Blu Hotel, Ikeja.
However, the organisers were disappointed that the Governor was not present and did not send any representative, ditto the Special Adviser while there was no govenrment presence at the event.
The organisers were more angry that the state government stopped them from inviting Lagos4Lagos Movement initiator, Abdul Azeez Olajide Adediran a.k.a Jandor to the event.
Jandor had initially been invited to present the book on the VC only for the organisers to revoke the invitation on the alleged order of the state government.
The fliers for the event were printed twice: one with the photograph of Jandor as the book presenter and the other one where he was not featured at all.
The organisers allegedly said they were forced to remove Jandor as the Presenter of the book by the state government with the threat that the government will withdraw its sponsorship of the event.
