For creating awareness on the need for electorate in Osun State not to take monetary or material gifts to vote for candidates in the Saturday, 9th August, 2014 governorship election in the state, a female officer of the State Security Service (SSS) was nearly transferred to Borno State on the order of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for the election, Senator Iyiola Omisore.
Thegazellenews.com learnt exclusively that the female officer at an awareness programme on the election which took place at Ede North Local Government Area of the state told participants at the event to be wary of political parties and candidates offering them cash and material gifts to vote for them during the election.
Unknown to her, this medium gathered that one of the participants, apparently a PDP member sent a text message to Omisore alleging that an SSS woman was campaigning against him at Ede North Local Government.
Pronto, Omisore was reported to have sent another text message to the Director General of SSS in Abuja requesting immediate transfer of the woman officer to Borno State to serve as deterrent to others.
But it took the patience of the SSS DG to save the woman. He ordered investigation into the matter and it was discovered that woman officer was playing her official duty campaigning against inducement and bribery to voters before they can vote.
It was also discovered that the woman never made reference to any political party or candidate.
