The Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation has counselled a member of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Samuel Omotoso, not to harm himself in a desperate bid to implicate the opposition.
It said Omotoso’s antecedents in violent attacks have proved conclusively that he can harm himself and blame opposition for it.
The Assembly member had addressed a press conference on Friday alleging that Fayemi allegedly sent thugs to kill him at Oloje-Ekiti in Oye Local Government.
He also alleged that thugs attacked members of the community and that some chiefs were arrested on the alleged order of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate.
But a statement by the Director of Media and Publicity of the Kayode Fayemi Campaign Organisation, Wole Olujobi, dismissed Omotoso as an attention-seeker
“notorious for mischief to cry wolf where there is none.
“We have always known Omotoso as a notorious rabble-rouser and attention-seeking mischief-maker who likes to cry wolf where there is none after stoking street violence to maim and disrupt public peace and then turn around to heap the blame on his opponent.
“This is a man who was caught on video tape mischievously crying in Abuja office of the Chinese Embassy where he had gone to help Governor Ayodele Fayose pressure China not to assist Nigeria out of recession that the opposition wanted to kill him and so China should not assist Nigerian government out of recession because of the Federal Government’s human rights records even though there was never any attack on him.
“Omotoso is just like his master, Fayose, in lie and violence, who once organised an attack on himself on a Lagos bridge, only to cry out that the opposition wanted to kill him. His security details later confirmed that the attack was a ruse by Fayose to draw public sympathy.
“Two days ago, Fayose himself mischievously cried out again, saying he had information that he would be attacked by the opposition led by Fayemi, urging security agencies to hold the APC candidate accountable if harm came to him”.
Warning Omotoso to stop raising false alarms to mislead the public, Fayemi Campaign spokesman said the lawmaker lacked integrity to be taken seriously considering his “antecedents as an elite with higher proficiency in urban violence than in his medical profession”.
Olujobi faulted Omotoso’s claim that his town was attacked by Fayemi’s supporters after which some chiefs were arrested on the alleged order of APC governorship candidate.
“Fayemi never ordered anybody’s arrest. In fact, Fayemi was not aware of any violence by the time he was in the town.
“It is mischievous for some people to cause disruption of public peace and later blame an innocent man if they are invited by police to explain their roles in such breach of public peace.
“We are aware of plans to employ propaganda to achieve undeserved ends and we know that in this case, Fayose and Omotoso are test-running their propaganda stunt to implicate the opposition over trump-up charges to draw public sympathy as the governorship election draws close.
“Part of Fayose’s plan to set the public against APC and Fayemi manifested in Usi-Ekiti on Friday when People Democratic Party (PDP) members branded their vehicles in APC’s logo to attack women and sellers in the market and these same PDP members were the ones that first raised false alarm that APC was attacking the residents to set Ekiti people against APC and Fayemi to draw fraudulent sympath,” he added.
Urging Ekiti people to dismiss Omotoso’s allegation as a cheap lie to seek public attention and sympathy for fraudulent political capital, he counselled PDP and its leaders to concentrate their attention on selling their campaign manifesto instead of trafficking in lies and blackmail to draw the sympathy of Ekiti people who are already tired of Fayose’s fraudulent administration that thrived in lies.
