Contrary to rumours making the rounds that former Minister of Information and former strong woman of the National Agency for Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Prof Dora Akunyili, currently receiving treatment in an Indian hospital, has passed on, her media aide, Isaac Umunna has dismissed it as untrue.
Speaking in a telephone interview with ThisDay, Umunna who claimed he was in a Friday evening service, described the rumour as baseless, mischievous and deliberately designed by those who don’t wish her well.
He made it clear that the former minister was responding to treatment, noting that “if the former minister dies, God forbid, I will be the first to announce it.
There are three different points where the news will emerge. Either from me, Anambra State government or President Goodluck Jonathan.
The other day, some people also came with the rumour and it was later discovered to be untrue.
They have continued to wish her dead but God has said no to their evil intentions.
The other day, former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi and his Media Aide, Valentine Obienyem went to India and saw her after which they told the world that she is responding to treatment.
The president is also very much in touch with the family especially the husband who is there with her,” he said. Also, other close aides in Enugu where she lives have dismissed her rumoured death as untrue.
