Super Eagles left-back, Elderson Echiejile has expressed his disappointment over Monaco’s 3-1 defeat to Guingamp in the semi-final of the Coupe de France played on Wednesday.
Echiejile who moved from Portuguese side Sporting Braga to Monaco was not part of the squad selected by Claudio Ranieri for the clash.
The 2013 AFCON winning defender wrote on his twitter handle: “Sad to have lost out of the French Cup. It’s always important to put it behind and move on.”
Mustapha Yatabare opened scoring for Guingamp in the sixth minute before Dimirta Berbatov who joined Monaco from Fulham during the January transfer window restored parity in the 36th minute.
With both teams still tied at 1-1, the game went into extra time before Fatih Atik and Yatabare decided the encounter for Guingamp by scoring in 112 and 117 minutes to end the game 3-1.
Meanwhile, Echiejile is expected to be part of the Eagles team for the FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
