Contractors handling the expansion of the link road between Ekiti and Ondo States through Ikere Ekiti into a dual-carriageway has been mobilized to site and has commenced preliminary works.
Ekiti State Commissioner for Works and Transportation, Mr. Sola Adebayo, who made this known in Ado Ekiti, said that the 11.3 kilometer road project would be completed within 24 months.
Adebayo assured that modalities have been put in place to ensure minimal discomfort for motorists that ply the road throughout the duration of the construction work.
According to him, rehabilitation of the Ikere township roads particularly the Post Office to Ise Road, would be completed before proper construction begins at the boundary road in order to ease traffic congestion.
He assured that all properties affected by the road project would be properly evaluated and compensation duly paid to the owners to avoid undue interruption of the project.
The Commissioner charged the contractors to ensure that the work is not only done to specification but also delivered on schedule.
In his remarks, the Director of Civil Engineering, Engr. Julius Olofin pledged that his department would properly supervise the construction and ensure that the project in done to specification.
Engr. Olofin charged the Resident Engineer supervising the road project to be diligent in the discharge of his duty.
