Ekiti Head Of Service Assures Civil Servants On Promotion

The Ekiti State Head of Service, Mr. Olubunmi Famosaya, has assured civil servants in the state that the 2012/2013 promotion exercise will be concluded before the end of March, 2014.

Speaking in Ado Ekiti while addressing journalists as part of activities marking the 2013 Civil Service Week, Famosaya assured that all eligible officers that passed the promotion examination conducted by ASCON on Saturday December 14, 2013 and scale the hurdle of the subsequent interviews by the state Civil Service Commission would be promptly issued their letters of promotion.

The Head of Service who lauded the efforts of the state government to boost efficiency in the civil service, noted that the present administration approved and sponsored a large number of civil servants on both local and overseas capacity building courses, adding that more workers would benefit from the programme in 2014.

According to him, nine top government officials were sponsored to the prestigious Royal Institute for Public Administration (RIPA International), London in pursuance of the state government’s determination to boost effective service delivery in the civil service.

Describing the efforts of the Fayemi administration at ensuring an efficient civil service and effective service delivery as commendable, the HoS noted that government has continued to grant car and housing loans to its workers as well as pay salaries regular in fulfilment of its obligation to workers.

Famosaya emphasised that government’s gesture was in spite of the dwindling financial resources of the state and a display of commitment to industrial peace and harmony which the administration pursued with its open door policy and regular interactive sessions with the labour unions.

The HoS stressed the importance of ethical conduct by workers, adding that political neutrality, structured line of communication, hierarchy, anonymity, transparency and accountability remained the watchwords of the civil service.

He cautioned against engaging in partisan politics, emphasising that everybody however has a constitutional right to vote at elections and workers should endeavour to register during the voters registration exercise and vote during the 2014 gubernatorial election.

Other activities lined – up in celebration of the civil service week include an interactive forum by the Head of Service with workers on Tuesday, Environmental Sanitation exercise on Wednesday and a novelty match on Thursday while a Jumat service and Dinner/Award ceremony will hold on Friday December 20, 2013.
