The Chairman of the newly inaugurated Ekiti State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC), Justice Kayode Bamisile has assured people of the state that the Commission would soon conduct a free, fair and transparent local government election.
Speaking in Ado Ekiti during his inaugural meeting with staff of the commission, Justice Bamisile further assured that the commission would conduct the election without fear or favour and devoid of any form of bias.
Justice Bamisile said the commission would demonstrate fairness to all political parties and other stakeholders, stressing that the elections would strictly follow the guidelines of the state electoral laws.
He charged political parties, politicians and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a peaceful environment in order to achieve the desired result.
The EKSIEC Chairman also appealed to journalists and the media to support efforts at conducting a free, fair and credible local government elections in Ekiti State, saying that the Press must ensure responsible journalism that would not unnecessarily heat up the polity.
