There was drama at the Judicial Panel of Equity on Police Brutality on Friday, 30 October, 2020 as officials of the Lekki Concession Company (LCC) refused to submit the video footage of the Lekki Tollgate shooting reports The Gazelle News.com.
The panel led by Justice Okuwobi commenced sitting on Friday at Lekki Phase 1 and officials of the LCC were there to testify on the events that took place on Tuesday, 20 October, 2020 at Lekki Tollgate where peaceful protesters were allegedly shot at by soldiers.
Testifying at the panel on Friday, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of LCC, Yomi Omomuwasan and one other official of the company confirmed that they are in possession of the video footage of the Lekki Tollgate shooting.
However, when asked to submit the video, they refused saying his lawyer has to be on ground before he can submit the video.
Justice Okuwobi called for an on-the-spot-asssessment of the incident venue where the LCC MD took the panel members round the torched tollgate.
Omomuwasan told the panel members that the cameras were on top of the tollgate and that they were never switched off.
When asked if the full record of what happened, he said he could not confirm that because at a time the cameras were damaged. He said they would automatically stopped working when they were damaged.
As at the time of writing this, the panel members are still at the tollgate.
