The Ekiti State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has taken a swipe at Governor Ayodele Fayose’s condemnation of the party presidential candidate, General Muhammadu Buhari, as a liar not qualified to contest election to lead Nigerians.
Reacting to media reports by Fayose castigating Buhari as a liar not competent to contest election, APC state Publicity Secretary, Taiwo Olatubosun, said the governor’s action gave him away as an unconscionable character who ought to hide his head in shame over the governor’s sundry activities that marked him out as a tragedy on the question of integrity.
He said as the alleged most integrity-challenged governor in Nigeria, Fayose is not competent to question any Nigerian over issues relating to integrity.
He said Buhari told Nigerians about his education qualification and reasons for visiting London, explaining that except Fayose who said he saw Buhari in a London hospital, other people saw him at a private home and Chatham House where he delivered a public lecture.
His words: “Lying is a question of integrity. A liar does not have integrity. Lying leads to deceit, stealing, conspiracy, murder and other vices. While Buhari has never and would never be associated with any of these vices in both private and public life, same cannot be said of Fayose who goes about with chains of alleged criminalities tied around his neck.
“It is amusing that a man once convicted of lying at the Ekiti State High Court would be the one accusing the innocent of lying.
“The latest in his lies is the denial of his involvement in the criminal conspiracy with his ilks in the Ekiti poll fraud as his voice was heard on how he collected INEC soft copies he printed to fraudulently win June 21, 2014 governorship election.”
Describing Fayose as a rare breed in brigandage with no sense of shame, the APC spokesman said the governor had baggage of alleged crimes on his neck from which he had not exonerated himself.
“Fayose led thugs to beat the judges and tear court records in the Chief Judge’s office last year while on May 29, 2005, he also led thugs to attack the Alliance For Democracy, (AD) rally at Mugbagba area of Ado-Ekiti, injuring AD members and vandalizing their vehicles while his agents attacked Navy Captain Caleb Olubolade along Emure-Ekiti over audacity to challenge him in the 2007 governorship contest.
“Chief Ojo Falegan and Engr.. Segun Oni nearly died of tear gas fume after receiving severe beating from government’s agents while Taiye Fasuba, the Chairman of Ado-Local Government, was illegally impeached over refusal to surrender council funds for a fraudulent poultry project. Fasuba escaped assassination later.
“Atta of Ayede-Ekiti, the late Oba Adeleye Orisagbemi, was arrested over alleged refusal to support him and the oba was put in the booth of his car by government agents.
“The Elekole of Ikole-Ekiti, octogenarian Oba Adetunla Adeleye, was seized on the street and forcefully dragged out of his car over alleged refusal to support the governor in his anti-democratic behaviour.
“Fayose has not proven himself innocent on the alleged role in the assassination of Dr. Ayodeji Daramola and alleged attempt on Chief Afe Babalola’s life.
“As we speak, Fayose is facing criminal trial by EFCC over alleged misappropriation of N1.3 billion poultry project in the court of Justice Adamu Hobon of the Federal High Court, Ado-Ekiti.
“Through lies, the governor haunted and orchestrated impeachment of his Deputy Governor, Abiodun Aluko, on false allegations, while alleged agents of his government attacked and killed eight students of the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, for protesting the sack of their provost.
“Fayose is yet to clear his name in the killing of the Holland-based Tunde Omojola in Ifaki-Ekiti during council election. Omojola’s offence was that he protested against brigandage and ballot boxes snatching during the election.
“Senator Femi Ojudu and Femi Falana (SAN) escaped assassination in ambush by government’s agents over their criticism of maladministration during Fayose’s first stint while till now, Fayose has not defended himself in what he knew about the acid attack on AD Women Leader (aka Mrs Thatcher) leading to her death after the woman refused to join PDP.
“Fayose has not explained his reason for allegedly locking his own father in the booth of his car as revealed in the security report panel set up by President Olusegun Obasanjo in 2005 over political killings in Ekiti State.”
Olatubosun said only a chronically integrity-challenged man could have all these alleged vices around his neck and still had the guts to come near decent people to seek leadership position or criticise leaders with impeccable records in public service.
He advised Fayose to start thinking of how to plan a life after paying for his alleged crimes, noting that Buhari’s presidency was a reality that could not be stopped by Fayose’s frustrating tantrums.
