The Special Adviser to the Ekiti State Governor on Public Utilities, Hon. Deji Adesua has charged schools that benefited from the EU/UNICEF Pilot Project tagged “On Sanitation in Schools” to make Judicious use of the toilets and other facilities provided through the partnership in order to achieve the target of eliminating open defecation in the state.
Adesua who gave the charge during an inspection tour of the newly constructed facilities at Ekiti West and Gbonyin Local Government Areas of the state, enjoined the authorities of the schools to ensure that the amenities were properly maintained.
Commending the donor agencies for the efforts at improving the hygiene level in public schools in the state, Adesua emphasized that the target of the state government was to. engender good health among the citizenry through the prevention of communicable diseases.
In her remarks, one of the residents of Igbeyin Adun area of Erijiyan-Ekiti, Mrs. Felicia Oladimeji expressed appreciation to Governor Ayodele Fayose for the partnership with EU/UNICEF, noting that the union was bearing good fruits.
Four schools in three communities of Aramoko, Erijiyan and Ode Ekiti in Ekiti West and Gbonyin Local Government Areas are currently benefitting from the programme.
The schools include: St. Mary’s Anglican Pilot Nursery and Primary School, St. Michael Primary School, Aramoko; Community High School, Ile Aaro Erijiyan; and Methodist Nursery and Primary School, Aramoko Ekiti.
