Ekiti State Deputy Governor, Dr. kolapo Olusola has described Governor Ayodele Fayose’s victory in the 2014 gubernatorial election in the state as the beginning of total liberation of Ekiti from political and economic slavery.
The Deputy Governor made the remark at the rallies held at Ikere, Ise/Orun, Emure, Ekiti East and Gbonyin Local Government Areas, all in the Ekiti South Senatorial District, to commemorate the one year anniversary of the governor’s victory at the poll.
The election which was held on June 21, 2014 saw Governor Fayose defeating the then Governor Kayode Fayemi of All Progressive Congress (APC), overwhelmingly and gave Fayose unprecedented electoral success as the only governorship candidate in Nigeria who has defeated a sitting governor twice, having defeated former Governor Niyi Adebayo in 2003.
Dr. Olusola said Ekiti has been under the siege of political jobbers and fake progressives who merely played on the people intelligence to siphon the megre resources of the state into their coffers instead of using it to execute developmental projects that will bring succor to the people who trustingly gave them the mandate.
He assured them that now that they have trusted Governor Ayodele Fayose and supported him to scale all the hurdles laid on his ways by political dissidents, the Governor will have peace of the mind and time to concentrate on governance and begin in full force to work toward the fulfillment of his electoral promises and political agenda which would surely bring Ekiti State out of its political and economic doldrums.
The number two citizen of the state who showered encomium on the Governor described him as a God fearing and astute administrator whose desire everyday is to see every Ekiti person living comfortably and going about his lawful business without any fear of molestation.
The Deputy Governor who appealed to the people to give the governor some time more to clear the mess of huge debt left by the immediate past administration of APC in the state, urged them to equally sustain their unalloyed support for the governor and pray for his administration to find a way out of the huge debt.
