Minister-designate from Oyo State, Barrister Adebayo Shittu has been implored to always fear Allah in the discharge of the national duties that he would be saddled with when given portfolio.
About 36 Muslim organisations in Nigeria gave the charge at a special prayer and get-together programme organised to felicitate with Barrister Shittu on his appointment as a minister of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria.
Speaking at the programme which was put in place by the Federation of Ahlus-Sunnah Organisations in Nigeria, the Chief Executive Officer, Inaayatullah Hajj Travels and Tours Limited, Iwo,Osun state and Director Inaayatullah International Academy, Iwo , Dr. Al-Asrau Bilal charged the minister-designate to see the appointment as a challenge and call to service and not call to celebrate.
The cleric in a statement made available to newsmen in Osogbo after the programme in Ibadan, admonished Shittu to allow the fear of Allah and love of his fatherland to be his watchwords while in service.
Quoting extensively from the Holy Quran in his lecture, Dr. Sirajudeen Al-Asrau Bilal who doubles as the Director Inaayatullah International Academy said, “Islam counts Post of responsibilities and Public appointments to be trust which are not meant for just anybody but for those who are suitable for them.
“In other words, only those whose academics and moral abilities make them qualified should be chosen and appointed.”
The University of Medina trained Islamic Law expert maintained that, choosing a good responsibility bearer is a trust while good discharging of the responsibility itself as well. For this, workers or civil servants should not misuse his post so that he should not cause problem for himself, his relative and others around him.
He however charged Barrister Adebayo Shittu and others who have been appointed for the national task to fear Allah in the discharge of their National responsibilities”.
The statement also quoted the President Universal Muslim Brotherhood, Chief Moshood Olanrewaju Adepoju to have described the appointment of Barrister Adaebayo Shittu as a minister as the best thing to have happened to Oyo State and all Muslim community.
He then charged Barrister Adebayo Shittu to give a very good account of himself as a good ambassador of the organisation and Oyo State.
While responding , Bar. Shittu who took audience through memory lane to recall his humble background, used the forum to correct the wrong impression that he will be hostile to christians and Christianity as there is no compulsion in the issue of religion and that he had once benefited from the magnanimity of a Christian.
The statement submitted that the minister- designate appreciated the good gesture of FASON.
