Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola, says engineers and scientists have been deployed to ascertain the cause of deadly accidents on Kara Bridge.
Gazelle.com reports that lots of accidents have occurred in Kara Bridge on the Lagos-Ibadan highway in recent years.
The minister, who was on an inspection tour of roads and bridges in Lagos, said the experts would look into the traffic patterns on the bridge to find out the causes of the mishaps but he blamed reckless motorists and inexperienced truck drivers for the crashes.
“Our team has been on ground since the past two weeks. Now that the process has started, this is a good time to come back and lend support to all the people on ground. We have done all our laboratory work and now we are in the field to see how it is playing out,’’ he said.
He assured Nigerians that the Federal Government was looking into the problems caused by the road and he assured that the work on Gbagada toward Third Mainland Bridge portion of the highway would be finished on schedule.
He said: “You won’t see any ceremony after completion because immediately we finish any section; it has to be opened for use. It is being constructed while people use it.”
