The Federal Government has warned of fake Covid-19 Vaccines which have found their ways into the African continent, reports The Gazelle News.com.
As a precautionary measure to prevent its entry into Nigeria, the Federal Government through the Nigeria Customs Service, has directed that the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja to be the only point of entry for imported Covid-19 Vaccines into the country.
This was disclosed via a letter to all Chief Medical Directors (CMDs) and Medical Directors (MDs) of all Federal Tertiary Health Institutions in the country by the Federal Ministry of Health.
The letter, dated Friday, 26 March, 2021 was signed by Dr Adebimpe Adebiyi, Director, Department of Hospital Services in the Federal Ministry of Health on behalf of the Minister.
The letter acknowledged the receipt of a previous correspondence from the Presidential Task Force on Covid-19 intimating the Ministry of the fact that over 3,000 doses of fake Covid-19 Vaccines bound for Africa was seized in China.
In spite of this, according to the letter from the PTF on Covid-19, fake Covid-19 Vaccines have found their way into Africa hence the need to take precautions.
Thus, the decision to make the Abuja Airport the only point of entry for all imported Covid-19 Vaccines.
