Boxing legend, Dele Jonathan, has expressed appreciation to the organisers of GOtv Boxing Night for the financial assistance given him.
Jonathan, who is afflicted with bladder and prostate enlargement and requires surgery, said the organisers of the boxing tourney have shown that they want him to live longer and in good health.
“I am happy for what GOtv Boxing Night has done for me and what it is doing for boxing. May God bless GOtv Boxing Night and everyone connected to GOtv. I will not die now. I will live longer by the grace of God,” the former boxing champion said.
The financial assistance to the ailing Jonathan was announced at the third edition of the GOtv Boxing Night on 26 July. The promoters of the event, Flykite Productions, dedicated 25 per cent of gate takings at the event to Jonathan and have since presented him with the cheque.
Sponsored by GOtv, the event delivered the biggest ever pay out in Nigerian boxing history with the N1million cash prize for the best boxer of the tourney. The prize was won by Olaide “Fijaborn” Fijabi.
