The Osun State Police Command on Friday dragged a 32-year-old man, Olatunbosun Olalere before an Osogbo Magistrate Court for allegedly receiving a stolen Blackberry mobile phone.
Olalere was said to have committed the alleged offence on September 14, 2013 at about 6:30pm in Ilesa.
Police prosecutor, Inspector Mireti Wilson, told the court that the accused, with others presently on the run, conspired and committed the offence.
Wilson further explained that the accused allegedly received from one Damilare one Bold 5 Black Berry handset suspected to be stolen, adding that the stolen handset which was valued at N50,000 belongs to one Akingbade Akinade.
He maintained that the offence committed was contrary to and punishable under Section 516 and 427 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol.11 Laws of Osun State 2003.
The accused person however pleaded not guilty to a two-count charge of conspiracy and receiving stolen handset pressed against him.
Defence counsel, Mr. Femi Fafowora, prayed the court to grant the accused person bail.
Fafowora who urged the court to temper justice with mercy on his client said the accused person would not abuse the bail if granted.
He assured the court that reliable surety will stand for the accused person.
Ruling on the matter, Magistrate Adeola Ademola Olowolagba granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in the like sum who must swear to affidavit of means.
Olowolagba directed that the surety must be close relative of the suspect who must be resident within the court jurisdiction, providing to court two clear passport photographs.
She thereafter, adjourned the case till 31st January 2014 for mention.
