The Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 11, Osogbo, Osun State, southwest, Nigeria, Mr. David Omojola, has said that despite the fact that Nigeria Police Force was not appreciated by some Nigerians, God loves the profession more than others in the country.
The police boss stated this on Tuesday when he paid a condolence visit to the state Commissioner of Police, Mr Ibrahim Maishanu at the command’s headquarters in Osogbo following the death of three policemen of the command in a motor accident in the state capital, weekend.
While commiserating with the bereaved families of the deceased and ranks and files of the command who were present to welcome him, Omojola said the incident was unfortunate and pathetic.
Addressing members of the police force, Omojola said, “I commiserate with you all. When the bread-winner of a family dies, it’s not only the family that is affected but other relatives. Everyone here, you are representing an interest, apart from representing your local government, you are representing your state and Nigeria because you are providing care service to the populace.
“Either you like it or not, Police service is a wonderful job and if you look at it, God loves Police more than other professions. Why is it so, people from other professions like law and health who have problems and those that need security come to the police for assistance.”
The AIG stated further that the police job is unique though it’s not being appreciated by some people.
He then advised men and officers of the police command to take care of themselves in order to be able to work effectively adding that they should avoid unnecessary exercise of power in their day to day duties.
Speaking, CP Maishanu appreciated the AIG for mourning with the command saying that efforts are on top gear to compensate the families of deceased.
Muishanu noted that he has informed the state government and also working on how it would come to the command’s assistance in consoling the bereaved families.
