Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi has expressed grief over the death of the Chief Judge (CJ) of the state, Justice Nasiru Ajanah, who died on Sunday during a brief illness.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Muhammed, on Sunday in Lokoja, Bello described late Ajanah as “a legal icon who stood for the cause of justice and defended the Rule of Law”.
He said that Ajanah did his best to smoothen collaboration between the executive and the judicial arms of government as the state’s chief judge.
Bello noted that the late CJ, who had also served in several capacities at the national level, was a fearless judge, renowned for demanding discipline in his court and delivering thorough and sound judgments.
The governor said that Kogi had lost a legal luminary, who bestrode the heights of his chosen profession like a colossus and cast his shadow far beyond the confines of the state.
He added that his administration would greatly miss Ajanah’s wise counsel while affirming that he served the state and the nation to the best of his abilities.
”History would be kind to the memory of the late jurist,” the governor said.
The governor condoled with the family of the late chief judge, his friends, the Kogi judiciary, the legal profession and Nigeria as a whole.
Bello prayed for the repose of the soul of deceased and prayed the Almighty God to comfort those he left behind and grant them the fortitude to bear the great loss.
Ajanah was born in1956 in Okene Local Government Area to the family of MJ Fari Ajanah.
